Meet the Activists

When did you first get involved in eco-activism? I have been involved in eco-activism from a young age, starting in grade school with the Elmira Youth Environmental Society (EYES). We led the educational campaign around blue box recycling when it first came to our town.

I was born and currently live in the town of Newmarket, which is situated on the traditional territories of the Wendat, Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe Peoples and the treaty land of the Williams Treaties First Nations.

What is the driving force behind your activism? I feel responsible for the devastating future that my generation has left to young people. I can no longer be a bystander to the destruction of the planet.

When did you first get involved in eco-activism? I started the Green Warriors in high school. We tie-died t-shirts as a fundraiser to adopt trees in the Amazon Rainforest, we made reusable lunch bags, and wrote letters to the editor about wasteful practices by the city.
