TMX: transmountain pipeline expansion

Who are we?

The Trans Mountain Pipeline Expansion (TMX) aims to expand the tarsands: threatening our very future on this planet - for humans and all life. Protect the Planet STOP TMX (PPST) is actually stopping the pipeline by working together using creative non-violent direct action.

PPST are your neighbours, concerned citizens: scientists, parents, shop owners & bike couriers, teachers & nurses, students & retired folk, settlers & Indigenous allies.

PPST began on Aug. 3, 2020, when Land & Water Protectors deployed an aerial camp high in the trees in Burnaby, to prevent TMX from clearing trees scheduled to be cut between Aug.1-Sept.15, 2020 along the pipeline route. When that camp was taken down by security and police back in early December 2020, we quickly re-located to the NEW tree top camp shown in this photo. This new camp at Lost Creek has been continuously occupied for over 200 days, with our team of tree-sitters and supporters blocking TMX tree cutting and habitat destruction in the area.

We are in a full on SIEGE - more sitters and defenders are in play, and we need your support!

With more sitters up in the trees and daily arrests and conflict, we need your assistance more than ever.  Bring food or drop by with a sign and support - everything you can offer will be accepted with joy.

We would like to acknowledge we work and play on the unceded territory of many Nations who have been protectors and friends of the Salish Sea and its watersheds since time immemorial.  We are humbly grateful, especially to the host nations of ḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish),  Xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) and Sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) First Nations, for allowing and welcoming us to be here and do this work in a good way on their traditional lands.

We commit to seeking out their leadership and being open to their teachings, and are honoured by the chances being offered to work alongside them as protectors of this sacred and beautiful space.

We are a grassroots organization, and are always looking for new members

PPST's Affinity Action Groups include:

Tree-Sit Climbers, Tree-Sit Ground Support, Direct Action Prayer Circle, Surveillance & Community Monitoring, Nest Finding, Legal Challenges, Communications Campaigns, Collaborations and Partnerships, People's Assemblies, Tours & Community Outreach, and others.
