Tell Canada's major banks to break up with fossil fuels- Greenpeace
Banks must respect Indigenous rights
RBC, CIBC, BMO, TD, Scotiabank and Desjardins talk about respecting Indigenous rights and fighting climate change and, yet, they continue to finance fossil fuels. Canada's big 5 banks are among the top twenty-five global banks financing fossil fuels - RBC is the largest financier of fossil fuels in Canada (and fifth largest in the world), followed by Scotiabank, TD, BMO and CIBC. RBC's support for fossil fuels was 250 times greater than their contributions to community and charitable organizations in 2019.
These banks are essentially using our money, our savings, to invest in the dirty business of fossil fuels while making public commitments to respect Indigenous rights and to act on climate change. In fact, they have steadily increased their support for fossil fuels - providing over $910 BILLION to fossil fuel companies since the Paris Climate Agreement in 2015, which demanded strong action to reduce climate catastrophes.

It's time to cancel the Trans Mountain pipeline -Georgia Straight Alliance
Our federal government promised that the Trans Mountain pipeline would pay for a green transition. With news that the budget has increased to over $20 billion, it's clear this project will never make money for the public. We must stop throwing good money after bad, and end this colossal subsidy to Big Oil.
Our federal government has made climate pledges, promises of reconciliation with Indigenous communities, assurances about caring about the health and safety of our oceans, and committed to a Just Transition for workers. Canceling this white elephant means putting that money directly into these efforts, changing this country for the better and moving us towards a greener, more just future.
Let's send a message to the federal government: cancel this boondoggle and start the green transition our communities and our planet need.

Open Letter to Prime Minister Trudeau and Cabinet: Reconsider the Trans Mountain Pipeline- 350.Org
On February 18th, the cost of Trans Mountain was announced to have risen to more than $21 billion. The Government of Canada responded to this by ending public funding of the project. Now is the time to stop construction, reconsider and cancel this pipeline.
In the past year, the Trans Mountain pipeline has been subjected to extreme heat, wildfires, flooding and, most recently, had sections of construction buried under landslides. All of this is being driven by a climate crisis that, if we build this pipeline, Canada can't do our part to tackle. We need a formal, federal review and reconsideration of the pipeline before we pump billions more public dollars into it and put communities and the climate further at risk.
That's why we're asking you to to sign and share this open letter calling on Justin Trudeau and his new cabinet to formally pause construction of the Trans Mountain pipeline and conduct a comprehensive review of the project.

Coast Protectors - National Action for TMX
This petition is calling on Justin Trudeau and his new cabinet to formally pause construction of the Trans Mountain pipeline and conduct a comprehensive review of the project. Any numbers Prime Minister Trudeau and his cabinet considered when they first approved this pipeline have changed to an astonishing $21.4 billion. We need a formal, federal review and reconsideration of the pipeline before we pump billions more public dollars into it and put communities and the climate further at risk. That's why we're asking people across Canada to sign and share this petition.
